Lived 15 mins away still remember the first game i bought which was Mortal Kombat 2 on Amiga. Also remember 1 of the owners getting killed in a robbery still very sad.

That was great. I'm going to visit the store/museum soon. I wish I still had my Atari 2600. It was great seeing it in the video and some of the games I owned.

Wow, this video highlights the best of two bygone eras, firstly, that great time before the internet was everywhere, and the only way to see, hear, or play, new releases was to go to a store such as this.

I remember similar stores, and one off boutiques that always had things such as raffles, magazines, demo discs, and demo stations where you could play, sometimes you even got to play demos of upcoming games in store.

There was one my friends and I would visit after school, I can't recall if it was on George St, or Pitt St, but it was downstairs, and had a playable PS1 with some games that were months away from release.

I also remember hearing about that tragedy at the Penshurst store, it was after that, when the N64 released, that my parents started to go to The Gamesmen, because Harvey Norman were selling N64 games for $120 at that time, crazy! and my dad always got a better deal with the guys at The Gamesmen.

It also highlights another era I miss, the pre covid times, only last year, but feels a lifetime ago at times.

I wonder how many stores went under during this time, hopefully The Gamesmen are still going strong.

JB and other stores are okay, but I really miss the friendly atmosphere of the older stores, where you could get to know the owners, and the regulars, and sometimes they would order exotic or rare games for you.

I guess many of those kind have gone in many other areas of life too, such as family butchers, hair salons, corner stores etc.

Getting a game delivered to my door is convenient, but experiencing it in store, and the anticipation on the journey home, is something special, and hard to replicate.
Cool video, thanks.

Was there more than one Flintstones games on the NES? I played The Rescue Of Dino And Hoppy back in the late 90s.

It's really amazing that the shop is still open given how many chain stores are disappearing these days. Here in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne where I live, we had a similar shop called Gamexpress, I think they started out in the very early 90s, around 1992 or so. Sadly, they closed in 2000 due to people hiring PlayStation and PC games from them and pirating them. Yes, Gamexpress hired out games as well as selling them, I used to hire out Game Boy and Nintendo 64 games from them.

When you had a walk through and talked about what is in the Museum why did you only talk about Consoles? C64, Amiga… etc none in there?

This is great. Both the store and museum look fantastic. I've bought off them before but being in Brisbane I've never been there. Picked up a Brawler 64 controller just this week off these guys.
