Oh, the Nintendo 64. It’s the console I probably have the fondest memories of since it was the first home console I’ve ever played. I remember getting up at 8am, having breakfast and then gaming until supper time, or until my parents literally forced me to stop playing. Those were the good ol’ days where I didn’t have a care in the world. Now, I have to worry about adult stuff like mortgage payments and going to work. It makes me wish I could go back in time to when all I had to worry about was how much time I’d be able to spend gaming each day.

If you’re like me and reminiscing about the Nintendo 64, then maybe you’re considering actually buying the console. I still own my N64, but if you want one, go get one! You definitely won’t regret it. For starters, it’s not very expensive to get a grey N64. If you want a special edition N64, like the blue and yellow Pikachu edition, then you’re going to need to shell out a bit more money, but you’ve got a collector’s item at that point. The games are the biggest selling point of the console since almost every single one of them is great.

I was volunteering at a summer a while back and I walk into a room with a woman emptying a box and she says « Look! It’s an old game boy! » I turn around as fast as possible and see 2 Nintendo 64’s. So natural I started nerd out about the system. Then she said since it’s has been sitting there for years and no one knows who’s it is I can keep it.

i remember watching my older brother playing the N64, we sometimes played MP2 together and i loved it! i miss the good old days 😭😭

Ritchie Romcescu 08/08/2021 - 18:15

I imported one before its European release, but it’s my least played Nintendo console despite having some phenomenal games. PS1 got the most of my time in that era.
The feeling you describe about games of your childhood is more applicable on the SNES and NES in my case.

Cartridges = NO LOADING

It be cool if we still made Cartridges, and they were HUGE haha but had zero loading…. Possible?

legomaker447 08/08/2021 - 18:15

I've never had a Nintendo console in my life, I feel like I missed out on all those iconic games. So I just bought a Nintendo 64 w/ Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Banjo Kazooie to give them a try. I also have an old CRT to hook it up too, gonna get that authentic N64 experience

Ian Bravo Gaming 08/08/2021 - 18:15

You can also play doom 64, star wars episode 1 racer, turok, and turok 2 on the switch

I wish I could get a 64 because my aunts husband has one but he lives like 12 hours away but when we visited them I played it and it was so fun

Michael Ruelas 08/08/2021 - 18:15

I still have my N64 to this day, I'm not planning on selling it either. It's a gem that you can't find anywhere in a store except Amazon and eBay.

Hugocraft 08/08/2021 - 18:15

N64 + Everdrive is a good place to start. Then RGB mod it and use a SCART cable to a CRT then you are set. If you must use an HDMI digital tv with the analog video from the n64, then use the Retrotink5x.

Everdrive go brrrrr

Dustin Steele 08/08/2021 - 18:15

I've always wanted to buy N64. I just love it. The look, the nostalgia. We had one of those knock off Nes on a chip systems that mimicked and N64 controller.

Mattendo - RetroGamingUK 08/08/2021 - 18:15

I love this console yet I started with a ds and Wii. They are fantastic to play but for future please credit the content you use in the description please as it's only fair

jj 08/08/2021 - 18:15

ABSOLUTELY worth it. Great games (as you already know), you can get a flash cartridge and play ALL the games (everdrive 64 also has an nes emulator so it can play most of those too and it's region free), and the hardware is some of most solidly manufactured I've ever seen. I've dealt with many older consoles that had issues and the N64 seems to be one of the best built. No moving parts -No hardrive or laser to go bad. The systems are now 25 years old, and the only problem I ever had was one that had a non working controller port (probably just dirty). The one have now I fully expect to work in 20 years, and I wouldn't be surprised if it still works 50 years from now. These systems will be going long after most switches die. Also a plus to play it on a Sony Trinitron. The colors look great for stuff like ssb and mk64. Think I'm a little OCD about it, but I prefer the experience of using original hardware with a crt tv. That's the most accurate way to play for me. I have sm 3d all stars on the switch but I never play sm64 on it. I'd much rather play it on my n64. Not too into the cart collecting tho..that can be pricey.

Chris Mauer 08/08/2021 - 18:15

Stop blowing in carts it's retarded it does nothing. All your doing is just removing the game and putting it back in for a better connection to the pins.

Moonraker 08/08/2021 - 18:15

I highly recommend getting an N64 if you like playing good games with friends. It's a great party console.
